There is a young lady with two girls who has been attending our church for about 2 months. Two weeks ago she told Justin that she prayed to invite Christ into her life at home one night with her mother (who is a Christian). This morning I had the chance to talk to her more about it and she told me she took one of the bibles from her chair at church and just started opening it up and reading wherever the page opened. One night as she was reading, the scriptures were describing her, and her life and then it talked about Jesus and his love. She immediately, with tears streaming, got on her knees in her room and poured out her heart to God. Overwhelmed with the realization that she was a sinner and that she desperately needed Christ in her life, she prayed that He would come and fill her and forgive her. She went on to tell me that as she has continued to read her bible, more and more it comes alive to her and many nights she is on her knees after reading God's word.
What an incredible testimony of the Holy Spirit working in her heart. I was moved to tears when she was telling her story to me. Her words, "I don't want that old, disgusting life anymore, having Christ in my life made me realize there's a love I didn't know before and I really need Him!"
Wow! When was the last time we allowed the Holy Spirit to use scripture to speak to us in a way that brings us to our knees? Have we become calloused to His power in our lives? How different would our lives be if we listened and responded to the scriptures as we read them?
"For you were once in darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of the light (for the fruit of the lights consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord {instead of what pleases me}. Have nothing to do with the fruitless seeds of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for it is light that makes everything visible. " Ephesians 5:8-14
How do we know what pleases the Lord? By reading his Word, by spending time in prayer, and by being obedient to what He says.
Lets live as children of the Light!
WOW!! Great reminder for all of us that we need to let the Holy Spirit and Word of God be alive in our lives! Thanks for sharing!
