Leah ~ 18 Months

Our sweet little Leah is 18 months!

She is a beauty with her blue eyes and red curly hair. Everyone comments on how beautiful her hair is. I am so jealous of her curls, they are gorgeous!

She is a sensitive little woman, who cries easily if a stranger talks to her, if someone tells her "No" or if one even changes their tone of voice to one that is more firm when she's about to do something dangerous or hurt herself. Her bottom lip flips out and alligator tears fall from her eyes in an instant.

Though she is sensitive, she has a feisty side as well. She likes to rough-house with her brothers and daddy, and likes to get in the middle of whatever they are doing. She loves to grab her brothers heads and pull their hair.

Her favorite things to play with are her baby dolls. She wraps them up in blankets and carries them around. She cooks in the kitchen, she likes to sit and look at books, she loves anything with music and loves to empty out drawers. Outside she and Paul spend most of their time in the sandbox, dumping sand all over the patio and plants.

(We didn't realize we left the top off when we had torrential rains, and the kids went outside to play the next morning. I hear lots of splashing & laughing. I find Paul and Leah soaked & having a great time!)

She sleeps all night, goes to bed about 8 and wakes up between 7-8. She takes a good 2 hour nap in the afternoon too. She has crazy bed-head.

Leah loves to eat! She has been feeding herself with a spoon and fork since she was about 15 months old. Way earlier than her brothers did. And she's all business at dinner, no chatting or goofing around, she shovels the food in fast! She can eat a fair share of food, we've had to increase the amount of food we make now because of her! Her favorite food is applesauce. But she also loves almost any fruit or veggie we put on her plate, even broccoli and asparagus! She likes meat, especially dipped in ketchup. She's not a big fan of breads or desserts...yet.

One morning after I made everyone omelets & she was insistent on bringing her book with her. She wanted me to open it so she could look at the pictures while she ate.

She is her Daddy's little sweetheart.
She wants him to rock her, hold her, she kisses him constantly, she loves to be with him. When he comes home in the evenings she screams, "DADDY DADDY!" and runs to the top of the stairs when he opens the door.

This picture was taken last night. She made him lift up his arm so she could scoot under it and be right next to him.

In the last 2 months she's become a chatterbox. Every day I'm amazed at the new words she can say.
I tried to make a list of the words she's saying & how she says them:
  • Siah = Josiah
  • Dow = down
  • Teet = teeth; brush teeth
  • Dink = drink
  • Bebe = baby
  • puppy
  • moo = cow
  • rooooar = lion
  • eye
  • ose = nose
  • ear
  • shoo = shoe
  • chup = ketchup
  • I-uh-ooo = I love you
  • nigh nigh = night night
  • hey-whoa = hello; phone
  • out = outside
  • poo poo

Leah and Paul = lots of love & lots of fighting.  (Peter & Stephanie - I imagine their relationship will be much like yours growing up! Paul even has a temper too like you did Peter!)

The will play really good together, and he can be really nice and kind to her, but if they cross each other, it's a battle! She gets mad at him and he gets mad at her. They can both scream so loud your ear drums ring.

I do think Leah and Paul might potty train at the same time! ha! Yes I STILL have 2 in diapers! Don't judge!

She's bossy already, even with her limited vocabulary. But she knows how to yell Josiah's name and tell him "NO" when she doesn't think he should be doing something. Here she was watching Josiah ride his bike in the grass and she was saying, "SIIIAH!!! No Siah!" followed by her own gibberish.

Surprisingly, Leah enjoys coloring & playing with play dough. She will stand at the table and play with it for 30 minutes! She sticks her tongue out like her Daddy when she's concentrating.

Leah adds so much joy & laughter to our family. We love her crazy dancing as she swings her head back and forth like Tina Turner. We love her even though she screams and hates bath time. We love her silly sense of humor, and the way she knows just how to pester her brothers. We love how when she gets shy around people she stick her finger in her belly button and buries her head in our chests to hide away. We love that she brings us our shoes and her shoes when she's ready to go outside. We love how she likes to help put things away and clean up...hoping she stays that way! We love that she's delicate and sensitive, she's a wonderful balance to her brothers! Happy 18 Months Leah!
