Keep Your Tongue From Evil

My dear friend Stephanie wrote about a great challenge for us this week. Her challenge is about keeping our tongues from evil, and using our words to lift up and encourage one another. She has been writing recently in her blog about being intentional of thinking first before we speak, not gossiping or listening to gossip, and just to speak kind words to one another. I have really been trying to be more intentional about doing this. Go check out her blog, she's pretty awesome, encouraging, and she challenges me spiritually even though she lives miles away from me!

Proverbs 10:19- When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise.

Proverbs 12:18- Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.

Proverbs 18:8- The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to a man's inmost parts.

Proverbs 16:24- Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. (I think this is a beautiful verse)

  2. John's right about this "gossip post" piercing us through and through. We are all guilty of this. These words from Proverbs shines the blinding light of truth in our face and we want to shrink away...and not touch this particular subject. Thank you Jennifer for your encouragement and challenge NOT to gossip, even a little bit.
